Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who can join the CSA?
A: Anyone who is interested in eating fresh, healthy food. If you live a little further away, gather your friends and share the pick up times, with just 4 families your pick up day would be once a month.
Q: What are the risks in joining a CSA?
A; Along with enjoying fresh produce there comes a risk of farming, this includes drought, bugs, flood, hail or any other act of God. When becoming a member you assume this risk as well. We do our best to provide a variety of produce. Some things we can not control and because of this production may be down at times or a particular crop wiped out entirely.
Q: What does it cost to join?
A: For a full season of nutritious food starting in June running appx 16-18 weeks you have the option of a full bag for $500 or a half bag for $250.
Q: Do I have to sign a contract:
A: There is an agreement contract signed each spring along with your payment. This is to ensure commitment and understanding of the program. It also allows us to know how much to plant each year.
Q: How do I fill my bag?
A: When you sign up you will have an option of days and locations to pick up. On that day you will come to the pick up location and fill your bag or half bag with produce that you want. We have you use the honor system and ask that you take what you want but leave for others too. You will receive a bag at the beginning of the season, we ask that you bring it back with you each week to fill.
Q: Am I required to come and help in the gardens?
A: You are not, but thank you for asking. Our on-site weed boy loves his job.
Q: Are chemicals, fertilizers or pesticides used?
A: We use minimal pesticides on an as needed basis. Fertilizer is produced locally on our farm from our animals. No other chemicals are used. Weed control is all done by hand using a cultivator, tiller, cover crop or our hands.
Q: Can I have items shipped to my home?
A: Not unless you live next door! Seriously though, our goal is to provide you with ultra fresh, nutritious food, with it ending in your bag less then 24 hours of being picked.
Q: What happens if I miss a week of picking up my share?
A: If you know in advance you cannot pick up your order, we would be happy to have it available for a friend or family member to pick up for you. We do not allow for a missed order to be combined with another week's order.
Q: How will I know what's available for the week:
A: The Facebook page will be updated each week, you can also check here on the website.
